KBC Class trip

Hi guys,
congrats to the COM 264A for your cooperation during the class trip to KBC I am sure we all learnt alot and seen how the knowledge we gain from class is being applied. First of all my apologies for not leaving at the stated time( 7am) because the driver came late but thank God we arrived on time.

I was really inspired first of all to see that the ratio of females to males is quite high thus, as ladies we can also handle technical equipment, ( No offence to the men of course). The digital video broadcasting terrestial (DVB-T) centre was so cool as we actually saw how the digital compression is being done or ghoing to be done.

Cynthia and her team did a fabulous job. I marvel at your level of maturity and cooperation. That's what is required in media world - you're masters of your own destiny. Keep the candle burning in taking charge of your learning process.

More comments on the trip, please.

How do you compare what you've learnt with what you observed at KBC?

Hey guys..Hope you are doing great! I really enjoyed the trip to K.B.C. and learnt alot! The digital technology section truly shows that we are in that age!

Hope you guys are preparing to get the set boxes... The cost for each is around 7,700 shillings for now and this is projected to go down with time...

I also really enjoyed watching those guys prepare for shots in the studio...This shows us how much time goes into preparing for shooting...Hope all of us are prepared...

I got confused on one thing though, when one is shooting is it possible to really get rid of all shadows? know next week we'll cover lighting...As they were preparing i observed that they were unable to get rid of a shadow of the flower base on the background...

When i asked them about it, they argued that one cannot be able to completely get rid of all shadows and that some create the aspect of nature and depth in a shot...Do you guys agree? what do you think?

i also really enjoyed the experience and it was exciting to see the things we have been learning in class being applied in real life.my view on kbc has also changed.it is not as archaic as i had presumed.
i also was enlightened on the tidious work that goes into production and the daily running of a media house
