EPISODE 5
Begins with a zoom in Andy’s house. Then the scene is cut to Andy and Sally talking. An extreme close up of Andy’s face, we see disappointment written all over his face.
Sound is heard in the background as we see Karama staring at Jane. A tilt up of Jane that goes hand in hand with the way Karama is looking at her. He has gone for an interview at Harry Potter Limited. Jane flirts with him and gives him her number. A long shot of Karama’s house. Lulu has come to visit him. He wants them to take their relationship further, but she says that she is not ready.
Tight shot of Lorna and Andy talking about Sally’s barreness. Panning from Andy to Lorna as she reassures him that a marriage can be complete without children.. She suggests that he can adopt. Dolly in on Andy’s face showing us that he is still distraught. Dolly out on Sally and Radi as the latter is consoling her.
Zoom out of Harry’s house. We learn from Harry that Andy and Sally have split. Sally has gone to live with Radi, Lulu’s mother. A medium shot of Sally lying on the couch crying. This is followed by a zoom in to her to enable us to connect with her and empathize wit her.
Lorna meets Gitonga, Harry’s rival. He wants her to work for him. She is hesitant. The scene is dominated by a medium shot as no emotional connection is needed.
The stereotype here is that a marriage is incomplete without children. Andy is responsible for portying this.
EPISODE 6
Begins with a zoom out of Harry’s house. Harry and Linda argue of Lorna who has just asked to meet him.
Tilt down of a wall poster of a cleaner establishing that the scene is at Harry Potter offices. The accountant confesses to Juma that Waridi needs to come back and save the company. Music is used as a transition to the next scene. It also creates anticipation for events to come. Panning from Juma to Jane. Juma pleads with her to show him how to send Waridi an email.
The camera sweeps across Andy and Sally’s room showing us items strewn all over the floor. There is a zoom in on an empty alcohol bottle signaling that Andy has been drinking. He is not taking his separation very well.
Close up of a newspaper article that informs us and Linda that Lorna has gone to work for Gitonga. Linda hides the paper so that Harry would not see it.
The stereotype here is that alcohol can ease someone’s pain. Andy has turned to alcohol for comfort.
The theme of women self help groups features prominently here. They play a big role in deciding which politician will win the elections thus all politicians try to cater to their demands through their wives or assistants. Linda heads most of these groups to help keep Harry popular and relevant.
