Today I’ve come to the end of my program critique, and I must admit that it hasn’t been easy. It has taken discipline to be behind the screen every Monday waiting for the weekly show. All in all, I have learnt a lot; to view everything from different angles, and more so for any future productions, to look critically at the different aspects of production. These include audio, lighting, the script itself among others.
12th March 2010
The camera was left panned in a long shot to establish a lady with her baby walking into a clinic. The shift then goes back to Konambaya police station whereby an aerial view to establish the office was used. The audio and lighting were quite good. An over the shoulder shot of two police officers conversing was taken. A camera shot which ran for a few seconds was taken in a moving vehicle to show that a journey was undertaken.
Today’s theme was ‘mpango wa kando’ with the husband cheating on his wife. Since he lived in the city, he had acquired himself a mistress, and hadn’t told her that he had a wife at home-as she would later realize. A cut in of the husband’s slippers is shown when he tries to say that he is off to work which is ironical since office work requires serious dressing. A three shot is used to shoe the husband, his wife and his mistress fighting, with a base angle shot of a neighbour enjoying the scenery from upstairs. However, the ending was poor with the policemen advising the man on how to live responsibly.
