CLASS ASSIGNMENT

Question: Your organization intends to deliver video content via the internet some members of the organization wants the content to be streamed while others think that downloading is a better choice. List a few justifications for each.

Answer: Streaming. A way of delivering and receiving digital audio and/or video as a continuous data flow that can be listened to or watched while the delivery is in progress. This is advantageous because it is instant therefore one gets to view the data immediately hence saving on time. To add to that one can view the content/video without having to save the data therefore no matter how big the data is it will not take up space in ones computer. Furthermore while streaming the number of people watching the video does not affect its delivery. Therefore, many people can watch a streamed video at the same time because the bandwidth is not affected. Also while streaming one can switch view to the end as compared to downloading where one has to wait till the process is finished to move to watch the video.
Downloading. This is the transfer of files that are sent in data packets, because these packets are often transferred out of order, the file can not be seen or heard until the downloading process is complete. This is convenient for the people who do not want to watch the video immediately therefore gives a chance to save the video in their personal computers. In addition it is a safer method because even if one loses the internet connection data will not be interrupted or lost because as compared to streaming which is easily affected by a poor internet connection. Moreover before downloading there is computer software which scans for viruses before accepting data from an external source. This makes it safer as compared to streaming where there is scanning.
