Your friend is an ardent movie fan, is extremely happy about the new 16 × 9 aspect ratio because, according to him, it is especially well suited to play back wide screen movies.
Do you agree with him? If so why? And if not why?
We agree with him on the part of the wide screen, because the digital television has an aspect ratio of 16× and it is horizontally stretched television picture of High definition television. Its proportions of the width and the height resemble more a small motion picture screen than the traditional television screen. This is true because when watching a movie on a traditional TV, either both sides of the frame are crudely amputated or images are displayed in the letterbox that shows the movie in its full width but necessitates the black stripes at the top and bottom of the screen.
Also due to the manipulative nature of digital technology one can easily alter the appearance of the screen to achieve the desired width or height.
On the issue of play back we chose to agree with him because there is a form of immediacy and the way it is digitally recorded it can allow the person viewing to playback during preview of any recording in the post production level. This is also possible due to the nature of the digital television or camera which is prone to manipulating in the editing stages. Unlike analog which is manual and takes a lot of time to playback and loss of information is expected in the event of frequent playback.
